Coastal Specialty Door Contractors (Coastal SDC) is a nationwide provider of specialized industrial and commercial door installation, service, and maintenance. We operate in demanding, safety-sensitive environments and pride ourselves on quality workmanship, professionalism, and reliability.
 

The Door Installation Technician is a skilled, hands-on role responsible for performing installations and service work independently and as part of a crew while representing Coastal SDC on job sites across the United States.

Position Summary


The Door Installation Technician installs, services, and maintains a variety of industrial specialty doors at commercial and industrial job sites nationwide. This role requires technical skill, physical capability, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
 

Technicians are expected to take ownership of their work, follow safety procedures, and support job site productivity while maintaining Coastal SDC’s standards of quality and professionalism.
 

Key Responsibilities


•    Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial and commercial specialty doors
•    Read and interpret job specifications, measurements, and installation requirements
•    Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, ladders, and job site equipment
•    Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, positioning, and securing heavy door components
•    Ensure installations meet company quality standards and job site requirements
•    Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
•    Comply with all safety procedures, company policies, and client job site rules
•    Accurately track time and job activity using company-provided technology
•    Travel nationwide to job sites, including overnight and multi-week assignments
•    Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with clients and coworkers
•    Assist with training and guiding Door Installation Assistants as needed

Schedule & Travel Expectations


•    Extensive nationwide travel required
•    Travel assignments may include overnight stays and multi-week projects
•    Typical traveling workweek consists of approximately 56 hours
•    Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours depending on job site demands
•    Overtime paid in accordance with federal and applicable state laws

 

Pay & Benefits


•    Starting pay at $28/hour, based on experience
•    Hourly compensation based on experience and skill level
•    Paid overtime for hours worked over 40 in a workweek
•    Weekly per diem provided when working away from the Employee’s town of residence
•    Mileage reimbursement for approved travel at the applicable IRS rate
•    Company-provided tools, equipment, safety gear, and work shirts

 

Qualifications


Required:
•    High school diploma or GED
•    Experience in industrial or commercial construction or maintenance, or a closely related trade
•    Ability and willingness to travel nationwide
•    Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
•    Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
•    Comfortable working at heights, on ladders and lifts, and around machinery and equipment
•    Strong understanding of job site safety practices
•    Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism

 

Preferred:
•    Experience with industrial doors, freezer doors, heavy equipment, or mechanical systems
•    Ability to mentor or assist entry-level team members

 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements


•    Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing
•    Exposure to industrial environments, including machinery, equipment, and varying weather conditions
•    Must be able to safely perform physical tasks associated with industrial door installation
